OMIK Amateur Radio Association, Inc.

January 5, 2007
I thank the Rendezvous Group for this opportunity to update our appeal to the Brotherhood of Hams in making the Streetcorner and net frequencies friendlier and the good times more numerous. With our time here so short, irrational dislikes and pointless sniping only serve to diminish our enrichment of one another and the hobby. OMIK, because of its 54 year history, is uniquely suited to be the unifying glue for WARFA, The Hifivers, The Rendezvous Group, and independents. History aside, we want to continue to earn that center spot with respect for all, and a willingness to make membership attractive to all who care to fellowship, regardless of station in life, big signal or small, ethnic identity, or favorite mode. Member or not, we want to be your friends.
Looking down the road, our next conventions are 2007—Baltimore; 2008—Baton Rouge; and 2009—Birmingham. We are working hard to offer the locations and the types of events that members desire. Those who want to have an input into that process, however, have to attend conventions! That’s where the decisions are made. Baltimore for this year was selected in 2004 and reaffirmed in 2005, by the way. Free OMIK hats will be given to all members who register and attend.
In all that we do, there is nothing we are prouder of than the fact that we have awarded ten $1,000 scholarships annually over the last two years. We thank everyone who plays any part in that effort.
73, and all the best…
