History of the Buck A Roo
Bishop A. Buckley WA2JWE
It was during the month of March 1980 ,that WA2JWE, Bishop A. Buckley,
with
the help of friends, established the 'BUCK-A-ROO
Net'. The net was designed
to meet each morning, Monday -Friday, on 7.264.5 MHz with MR Buckley,
nick
named 'Buck', at the helm.
For some eight years Buck enjoys the results 0£ his efforts which was an outstanding
accomplishment. The number
of participants grew larger and larger and often
entertaining check-ins from
stations outside the continental
United States
as well. It was because of this growth that led
Buck to the conclusion that there was a definite
need to expand the net's in-the-air time. Therefore, after some careful and
extensive research, study,
and evaluation, Buck, during the month of
September 1986, established the
'BUCK-A-ROO PLUS' on 7.248.0 MHz. This was merely
an extension of theBuck-A-Roo net thus extending the net's on-the-air
time by one hour. Buck's favorite words were
'KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY'. He firmly believed that to
put up a good fight you had to keep your powder
dry. We can safely. say that
Buck kept his powder dry and that he gave it one
heck of a good fight.
He
may have given out, but he never gave up the fight.
It was with the deepest of heart felt sympathy. when we learned that WA2JWE, BISHOP A. BUCKLEY, became a silent key on
31 March 1988
. He
was an outstanding individual, he was a wonderful person,
and a very dear friend to all who knew him. It is
needless to say, but I £eel
I can speak £or all who'd ever checked in with
the net by saying
'BUCK,
YOU
GOT US CHECKING IN WITH YOU WITH LOADS
OF EAGER ENTHUSIASM AND THEN YOU
CHECKED OUT ON US AND ALL TO SOON. MR
BUCKLEY, YOU ARE BEING MISSED.
