Dear Member:
I regret to inform you that our long time AREA member and friend Israel "Lee" Simons, K9CZL has
become a silent key. I considered Lee a personal friend. He was a most decicated AREA member
and held the office of President for multiple terms. He was also a dedicated member of the City of
Markham, ESDA. I was also informed his XYL is presently hospitalized, our prayers go out to her.
Lee was a long time military retiree and could be cantankerous at times, but he would help you do
anything. He wood always admonish me if I were one minute late for a meeting or gathering and I
wood remind him I was not on military time.
I have known Lee for about 20 years and always known him as a man of his word. He was a most
diligent voice on the AREA repeater before 4:00 pm "bedtime", and you cud get him when no one
else was around.
I will surely miss him as I am sure the same can be said for all those who knew him.
I have been informed that his remains were cremated and there was not nor will be any services.
Rest well my brother -- we will surely miss you.
Anyone wishing to send cards to the family can do so at the only address I have, which is where he
lived.
