Ritner Nesbitt, N4BNM, has gone to be with the Lord.  His key is now silent.  Rit
passed on January 31, 2014 at home.

Sergeant First Class (Retired) James Dillard Harris, Sr. was born May 25, 1939 in Montgomery, Alabama
to Roscoe Harris and Ora Lee Harris. He departed this life on Saturday, January 18, 2014. James received his
education at George Washington Carver in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1958, he served in the Army Reserve
and then became active duty in the Army in 1959. Tours of duty included: Fort Bragg, North Carolina, France,
Thailand, two tours in Vietnam, Baumholder, Germany, Korea and Fort Rucker, Alabama.
He retired from the military in 1982 at Fort Bennings, Georgia. He then attended Trenholm State Technical
College, where he received an Associate Degree. He worked and retired from Civil Engineers at Maxwell Air
force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He pursued a hobby as an amateur radio operator. He traveled to
different parts of the country to participate in amateur radio events. He continued to pursue his passion of
amateur radio until his passing.
With hearts grateful for his life and saddened by his passing, he leaves to cherish his love and memories: His
loving and devoted wife, Janice (of 41 years); his sons, Darrell Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; James (Mary) Harris
Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama; his daughters, Cynthia (Albert) Thomas of Montgomery, Alabama; Dr. Victoria
(Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Christopher) Perry of Daphne, Alabama; Alice (Douglas) Steele of
Montgomery, Alabama; Cheryl (Preston) Collins of Montgomery, Alabama; twelve grandchildren, Ebony
Harris, Brittany Perry, Demetrisa Harris, Nikisha Bell, Travis Harris, Sackiko Harris, Lorenzo Daniels,
Shereka Woodfin, Jiniyah Smith, Amadie McNiel, Ngozi McNiel, Presli Collins, Preston Collins Jr., Christina
Perry and ten great grandchildren; brother, Roscoe (Annette) Harris Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; brother-in-law,
Robert (Mary) King of Lithonia, Georgia; sister, the late Willie (John) Monroe of Houston, Texas; devoted first
cousin, Willie Mae Dansby of Montgomery, Alabama; special cousin, Willie Mae (Sidney) Cowens; lifelong
friends First Sergeant (Retired) Shelly (Betty) Watson, Columbus, Georgia; special friend, Yolanda Harris,
Houston, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and pets.
