The Saturday cook-out was held at the local VFW facility. Thankfully, Rhonda and Ellen had factored in the possibility of extreme heat and/or in climate weather. It was hot (96 degrees) and a storm did crop up midway through the activities. The gathering enjoyed an abundance of southern outdoor cooking in dry air-conditioned comfort. After dinner, there were several group games with prizes. One entailed all of the Hams standing next to each other and identifying as many call signs as they could down the line. That game was won by Percy (KF4DYV). . There is a strong suspicion that his dog Lanny may have provided some assistance. The gathering also enjoyed the revenge of the Smurfs. There will be pictures to follow on that one. John (AC3H) received an award for being the oldest attendee. All hams at the gathering received certificates of attendance. The cook-out ended with a group vote on the location for the 2002 Rendezvous. Maryland/DC was selected. Next year's location is Chicago.
